There are various seasonal jobs available at retailers across the UK this festive season.

Retailers often prepare for the Christmas period months in advance with new festive ranges in food and fashion.

As customers ramp up the shopping in the lead up to Christmas, retailers like TK Maxx, Boots, HomeSense and Royal Mail are hiring more staff to meet the increase in demand.

With the ongoing shortage of HGV drivers, it appears many retailers are preparing their supply chains for a potentially rocky festive season.

The seasonal recruitment drive is being seen across retailers and industries with 490 Christmas temporary jobs in London on Indeed.

Indeed is a worldwide employment website for job listings, which launched in 2004.

Retailers including TK Maxx, Oliver Bonas, HomeSense, Pandora Jewellery, The White Company, River Island, Clintons and UNIQLO are all hiring this festive season.

TK Maxx and HomeSense have tens of vacancies at stores across London including Oxford Street, Brent Cross and Camden.

According to TK Maxx and HomeSense’s job synopsis: “When you join TJX as a Retail Associate, you’ll be part of a close-knit team. In fact, right from your very first day with us, you’ll be welcomed as part of our retail family. This is also a great learning environment.

“Our stock changes by the day, and we like to make sure our Retail Associates get plenty of variety too – you might be on the cash registers one moment, guiding customers on the shop floor the next.”

Royal Mail are also hiring Seasonal Mail Sorters as they deal with increased demand over the festive period.

One vacancy says the pay ranges from £11.40 per hour for days to £13.70 per hour for nights at Royal Mail.

According to the Royal Mail website: “Here at Royal Mail, Christmas is our busiest time of year. With so many parcels and letters coming through our warehouse doors, it’s no surprise that we need a few thousand extra helping hands to get everything where it needs to go.

“That’s why, every year, we hire temporary Mail Centre workers from all different walks of life to help us deliver Christmas across the UK. We are currently recruiting for Seasonal Mail Sorters starting from £11.40 per hour.”

Boots are also hiring Christmas Customer Assistants and, according to the job description: “Christmas in Boots is our most exciting time of the year and it can be very busy so we’ll provide you with all of the training and support you need to help you be at your best.

“No two days are the same; you could be helping on tills or advising customers, working in our back shop helping to run our stock room or you could be helping our online offering by picking boots.com orders.”

Most of the contracts on Indeed for Christmas temporary jobs have flexible hours available with early, day and night shifts.
