Royal Mail enhances its Parcel Collect service in the run up to the holiday season

The enhancement of the Parcel Collect service is set to make it easier for customers to return goods.

Royal Mail created Parcel Collect to make it easier for customers to return goods without the need to go out and post parcels themselves. Instead, a postman comes to a customer’s door and picks up the parcel for return.

Now, the delivery giant allows for customers to order returns labels if they do not have access to a printer.

Through Parcel Collect, Royal Mail collects parcels from customers at their doorstep as part of the postman’s daily round, which means no additional vehicles on the road resulting in fewer additional emissions and less congestion.

To return goods and have a label brought to their homes, customers can book a collection time online.

Nick Landon, Chief Commercial Officer at Royal Mail said: “Every day our posties walk past every house in the country at about the same time. People know when their postman is going to deliver and now they can send or return parcels at the same time. If people aren’t going to be in, they can leave their item in a safe place for our postmen to collect it, and now if they don’t have a printer at home, they can ask their postman to bring the label with them.

“As the nights continue to draw in and the weather gets worse, why go out when you can stay safe and warm and leave the hard work to your local postman. And even better, many of our deliveries and collections are carried out by posties who walk their rounds – the greenest way to send and return”
