Channel migrants sign on M40 in Oxfordshire removed

A SIGN on the M40 which asked ’how many Channel migrants are terrorists’ has been removed.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said it received a report from a member of the public relating to the sign.

A spokesperson for TVP said: “Words of advice were offered to all relevant parties and following this, the sign was removed and no further action will be taken.”

The sign had been in place in a field between Junctions 6 and 7 of the M40 for a month before police asked to remove it.

Ian Caldwell, who legally rents the space, said the removal was an example of ‘cancel culture’.

He said he was told to remove the sign after it caused offence to several motorists, to which he replied ‘I am offended every time I get up in the morning’.

Mr Caldwell said he told the police officer that it was the officer’s duty to uphold freedom of speech under the Human Rights Act 1998.

Mr Caldwell added that he has contacted GB News’ Nigel Farage about the situation after the sign was removed on Tuesday.

He said: “Nigel Farage is covering the migrant crisis every night on his programme and is the only one highlighting the problems.”

On Wednesday, 27 migrants drowned while crossing the Channel.
