Covid: How do you feel about attending festive parties this Christmas?

Christmas parties have been given the green light by the UK Government this year, but some are choosing not to attend amid rising concern with the new Covid strain.

Last week the Omicron variant, which has raised concerns over its high level of mutation, was discovered in Cambridgeshire for the first time.

There are now likely more than 1,000 cases in the country and health secretary Sajid Javid had confirmed the community transmission of Omicron.

However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has dismissed talk that Christmas parties should be cancelled this year.

It comes after rumours swirl around the activities at Downing Street in late 2020.

But, the executive chairman of S4Capital – Sir Martin Sorrell – told the BBC Radio Four Today programme there has been a “sharp series of cancellations” of Christmas parties.

He said there is “extreme” uncertainty with the new Omicron variant.

The Mirror reported that the health secretary Sajid Javid told Brits people should “maybe” take a Covid rapid test before attending Christmas parties. Do you agree?
