Royal Mail warns of pre-Christmas delivery disruption

Royal Mail has released a list of delivery offices experiencing issues in the busy build-up to Christmas – including Congleton

It comes as the postal service has revealed how it’s battling with ‘Covid-related self-isolation’ and ‘high levels of sick absence’ among its employees.

Today the organisation has listed areas where there may be disruption, which includes Buxton and Congleton.

More Christmas news

The Mirror has reported how, according to the BBC, absence levels at the postal giant are almost double those seen in 2018.

A source said the internal situation is “horrific” and claimed: “It’s much worse than a normal Christmas.”

StokeonTrentLive has previously reported how families in Biddulph had been complaining over how long they have had to wait for their post.

Royal Mail has today listed the offices were there is disruption. The full list is below:

The organisation is issuing daily updates on its website. A post today stated: “Deliveries are operating as normal across most of the country today.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as COVID-related self isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
