Every day, 900,000 Covid tests will be sent out.

In response to an unprecedented demand for Covid-19 test kits, home deliveries will be doubled.

Yesterday, problems obtaining tests persisted for a third day.

When some people tried to order lateral flow tests online, they were told they weren’t available.

When others attempted to schedule a walk-in PCR test, they were directed to locations several miles away.

Home deliveries of both PCR and lateral flow tests will be ramped up by Saturday, according to the UK Health Security Agency and Royal Mail.

The number of available slots at PCR sites and in pharmacies will both increase.

“I’m delighted Royal Mail is expanding our distribution service,” Health Secretary Sajid Javid said.

This means that every day, over 900,000 PCR and LFD test kits will be delivered to homes.”

“We continue to prioritise test kits for delivery and collection daily,” said Nick Landon, Royal Mail’s chief commercial officer.

“The 35,000 priority postboxes and Sunday collections are included in this.”
