Royal Mail issues key update on delivery delays as four UK locations impacted

Just last month during the Christmas period, Royal Mail warned of delays up and down the country.

Now unfortunately, the postal company has shared a fresh update and it’s not good news.

It said the firm is due to experience more issues as a result of coronavirus.

The company operates an air, rail and road network to move letters and parcels between its distribution hubs, centres and offices.

Although it is operating to schedule over the last 24 hours, there are some problems with the postal service’s mail centres.

Today (January 7), it revealed four mail centres were impacted by the delays.

It revealed they were delays during the Christmas period

On the website, Royal Mail said: “Chester Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday, due for delivery today to addresses in the CH, LL and SY postcode areas.

“Exeter Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday, due for delivery today to addresses in the EX and TQ postcode areas.

“Nottingham Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday, due for delivery today to addresses in the DE and NG postcode areas.

“Warrington Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday, due for delivery today to addresses in the CW, L, WA and WN postcode areas.”

As for parcels, the company added: “Deliveries are operating as normal across most of the country today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as Covid-related self-isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
