The set of stamps features the iconic rock n’ roll band playing in a number of venues across the globe.
Royal Mail have revealed that they will mark The Rolling Stones’ 60th anniversary with 12 stamps featuring the legendary band.
The series’ main set of eight stamps sport the iconic rock n’ roll group performing at a number of global venues. It includes the band playing at London’s Hyde Park in July 1969, Düsseldorf in October 2017, and Tokyo in March 1995.
One of the stamps features the band’s late drummer, Charlie Watts, who passed away in August 2021. Watts is captured performing on stage in Düsseldorf in October 2017 on the stamp.
Four stamps — in addition to the main set of eight — are presented in a mini sheet and include two shots of The Stones and two promotional posters used on global tours over their glittering career.
In a statement, Royal Mail Director of Public Affairs & Policy David Gold said:
“Few bands in the history of rock have managed to carve out a career as rich and expansive as that of The Rolling Stones. They have created some of modern music’s most iconic and inspirational albums, with ground-breaking live performances to match.”
The Rolling Stones join an ultra exclusive club of artists honoured by Royal Mail with a personalised stamp issue. The The Beatles were the first group to receive this mark of respect in 2007 followed by Pink Floyd in 2016 and Queen in 2020.
The stamps and a range of collector’s items featuring the images are available to pre-order from today (January 11). They will go on general sale on January 20th via Royal Mail.
