Areas of Merseyside that haven’t received any post ‘for weeks’

Some residents in Merseyside claim to have not received any mail for weeks.

Royal Mail confirmed last month that customers would experience delays in receiving deliveries over the festive period due to staff self isolating and suffering with Covid-19.

However, some areas and streets seem to have been hit harder than others, with some ECHO readers claiming not to have received anything for several weeks.

St Helens was named by Royal Mail as one of the most seriously affected areas in the country.

Paula Hatton said: “Had no post since beginning of December WA9 (Sutton) area, put in a complaint to Royal Mail but they didn’t really help, birthday cards and Christmas cards all missing.”

Stephanie Owen told the ECHO : “Yes, been told twice by Royal Mail a parcel was coming and not turned up so stayed in for nothing haven’t had any letters since November, now people have sent Christmas and birthday cards to us but we haven’t had them yet.”

Amanda Mills said: “I’ve received a letter today (January 6) that was dated December 16. It was regarding car insurance. Good job the company had text me also, as I’d of had no insurance.”

Some have even missed out on important medical letters from hospital, Maria James said: “My husband was having an operation due December 21st needed his pre-op he received his pre-op letter after his time.”

Karl Holden commented: “My wife got her Appointment for hospital today (January 6), she needs to be in hospital December 29 2021? Just saying loads more will have missed appointments.”

Alison Carroll said: “Had nothing for a while, waiting for a parcel but not urgent, will arrive eventually, poor post men and women run ragged, not their fault, first world problems.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “The vast majority of mail is delivered safely and on time. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In the local area, we have been experiencing some delays to service due to resourcing issues, high levels of sickness absence and Covid related self-isolation.

“We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience experienced.

“We have been working hard to get our levels of service back to normal as soon as possible. Anyone who has concerns over the delivery of their mail should contact the Royal Mail customer service team on 03457 740 740 or via the Royal Mail website”
