It comes after police were using extra stop and search powers in the area last night from 5pm until midnight.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and released without charge.”

Dudley North Police tweeted saying: “#WARRANT | As part of the current package of measures to tackle ASB in #Gornal a search warrant was executed earlier today by the local team. A male remains in custody in relation to a number of offences.”

Dudley Police tweeted last night saying: “Officers are using Section 60 powers in #Gornal tonight until midnight.

“The order started at 5pm and gives us the power to stop and search people we suspect may be involved in violence involving weapons, without the need to have reasonable grounds.

“A Dispersal Order is also in place running until 5pm tomorrow meaning we can order anyone to leave the area whose behaviour is likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress. Our priority is to protect YOU the public.”
