Plans for Welsh bio-CNG refuelling station to be approved

Plans for a biogas refuelling station in Bangor, Wales, have been recommended for approval.

CNG Fuels, which operates bio-CNG refuelling stations across the UK, submitted the plan for a facility in Parc Bryn Cegin to serve fleets of specially adapted HGVs. The site has been empty for 20 years.

According to a report by Business Live, planning officers commented: “The proposal is for the provision of a compressed natural biogas fuel facility for vehicles on an idle site within the Bryn Cegin Industrial estate. As a result of the assessment which refers to all national and local planning policies and material planning matters, it is considered that the proposal is acceptable and complies with the requirements of the relevant policies and guidance.”

CNG Fuels recently opened the world’s largest public access biomethane refuelling station in Avonmouth near Bristol. The site will meet growing demand from major brands such as Amazon and Royal Mail to cut emissions from haulage and save money while supporting the decarbonisation of the UK’s road haulage sector.
