No, Monday 6th June is not a Bank Holiday. However, there is no need to be glum as there are actually three Bank Holidays coming up this May and June that you can look forward to.
The next Bank Holiday is the Early May Bank Holiday which will be taking place on Monday 2nd May. After that, there is the Spring Bank Holiday on Thursday 2nd June, and the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday which is happening on Friday 3rd June.
So, during the first week of June you will be able to enjoy a four day weekend!
What is the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday?
The Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday marks the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. The first week of June was chosen to celebrate this event, as the actual date (February 6th) also marked 70 years since the death of The Queen’s father, King George VI.
The first week of June was also chosen for the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees.
In a statement, Home Secretary Priti Patel said about the Jubilee: “For 70 years Her Majesty The Queen has served the UK and the Commonwealth with the utmost dignity, steadfastness and resolve.”
“The Platinum Jubilee is a truly historic national occasion, which will see families, friends and communities across the country come together to celebrate this unprecedented landmark in a remarkable reign.”
