A GLASGOW woman is to be remembered with a special event a year after her tragic death.
Esther Brown, 67, was described as “a much-loved and active member of the community” and now locals are coming together to unveil a memorial stone dedicated to her.
Woodlands Community has arranged the event for June 12 in their community garden where they will reveal the monument, which features a birdbath as an ode to Esther’s passion for nature.

The group said: “Esther Brown was a founding member of our community garden and her generous spirit was central to making the community garden a welcoming and inclusive place.
“For many years she also helped to run our community café and served on our board of charity trustees.
“Esther was an exceptionally kind, compassionate and caring individual who dedicated her life to helping others.
“Through her voluntary work, she touched the lives and hearts of countless people. We miss her terribly.
“We have timed this event to coincide with her birthday weekend, and focus on the positives of her life, rather than the terrible circumstances of her death”

Esther’s body was found in her Woodlands home on June 1, and 30-year-old Jason Graham was jailed for life for her murder.
A memorial fund was set up by Woodlands Community, and they are still taking donations here.
Money raised will go towards a specially designed bench, as well as maintenance of Woodlands Community Garden and buy food and other essential supplies to support people in need via Woodlands Community Cafe.
