Chair at housebuilding giant set to step down

Leicestershire housebuilding giant Barratt is on the hunt for a new chairman.

John Allan is set to step down from the top job next year, according to Sky News, which says that Barratt has instructed Russell Reynolds Associates to find a successor to Allan, who is also the chair at Tesco.

Allan has been chairman at Barratt since November 2014, but Sky News says he will step down at the firm’s AGM in 2023. He has an impressive CV, which includes stints as president of the CBI and chairmanships at Dixons Retail and Worldpay. Allan has also been on the board at National Grid, Royal Mail and 3i Group.

Sky News says it is unclear whether any of Allan’s fellow board members at Barratt are in the running to succeed him.
