Squid Game: The Challenge is recruiting UK contestants – here’s how to apply

Netflix is recruiting contestants for the new Squid Game show – with the ‘sole survivor’ promised a big cash prize. But fear not, unlike the hit drama series, the gameshow which is looking for UK entrants, it is promised that everyone should emerge ‘unscathed’.

Squid Games was the surprise streaming hit in 2021 and is an ultra-violent horror gameshow in a dystopian future where players crippled with debt sign up – and if they lose they are killed. In the wake of the runaway success of the South Korean show Netflix has launched what it describes as its ‘biggest ever social experiment’.

The streaming giant said of ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’: “This supersized unscripted show turns the scripted world of the drama into reality. Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next. Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor* and walk away with a life-changing cash prize.

“With a fortune up for grabs, who will be an ally, who will you trust, and who will you betray in this ultimate test of character? *Please note: Win or lose, all players will leave unscathed. But if you win, you win big!”

Now UK potential players can sign up to take part by filling in a form and sending in a one minute video, telling the producers about themselves, why they want to be on Squid Game: The Challenge, what your game plan would be and what they would do with a huge cash prize if they win.

Anyone successful would have to be available for four weeks filming in early 2023 but they warn: “Due to a high volume of applicants, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get back to everyone, but thank you for taking the time to apply.”
