Austrian Post begins operations in Slovenia

Austrian Post’s new subsidiary Express One Slovenia has begun operations in the country.

Express One Slovenia has two logistics centres in Maribor and Ljubljana and several delivery bases across the country. Many of these parcels will be handled by Austrian Post’s logistics centre in Kalsdorf, Austria.

“Due to our high quality, we were motivated by international customers to offer our services on the Slovenian market as well. We already have relevant export volumes to Slovenia, and we also have a strong market position in the neighbouring countries of Austria, Croatia and Hungary. Self-delivery in Slovenia was therefore the next logical step for us,” explains
DI Peter Umundum, Managing Director for Parcel & Logistics, Austrian Post.

The new delivery company is focused on e-commerce, B2B and B2C customers. It offers express shipments, returns cash on delivery and transfer to other addresses or parcel shops. Using its app, customers can open parcel lockers, and the app can also be used for returns and payment.

Austrian Post now has interests in ten other countries as, like Royal Mail’s GLS, the postal operator seeks international markets for expansion beyond its home country’s borders.
