John Lewis launches parenthood support for staff – Employee Benefits

Retailer John Lewis, which employs around 80,000, has introduced fertility, pregnancy and parenthood support for its staff by partnering with family-focused app Bloss as of this month.

Through the app, managers have been given access to written and video resources and training on how to better understand, talk to and empathise with members of staff going through issues such as IVF treatment and returning to work after having a baby.

All users of the app can access guides and videos, a 24/7 clinic, one-to-one video calls, therapy sessions, workshops, webinars and free downloadable tools and resources. It also provides an interactive live chatroom, hosted by more than 200 experts and covering topics such as how to sleep better with a newborn, family law, parenting and surrogacy advice.

According to John Lewis, it introduced the app in order to offer easily accessible resources for every life stage, from fertility and pregnancy to parenthood, allyship and support for others. The business wanted to do this through one provider, rather than individual benefit partners for each category. It also aimed to create a single point of entry for employees to access a range of practical, confidential advice, emotional support and resources from hundreds of qualified experts at a time that suits them best.

Stacey MacDougall, health and wellbeing development manager at John Lewis, said: “We want our partners to be happy and have a wide range of resources available to support their wellbeing, which is why we are working with Bloss.”
