Residents at new Banbury estate complain after missing out on postal deliveries

Residents in Bloxham Vale have complained that Royal Mail is not delivering important mail to new Banbury housing estate.

People in the Bloxham Vale housing estate have complained that Royal Mail has not regularly delivered mail to the estate, amid claims that the post workers struggle to deliver to the new builds.

The situation has meant that some residents have missed hospital appointments and important signature letters that needed to be returned by a certain time, causing them unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Residents of Bloxham Vale have now taken it on themselves to make regular visits to the sorting office as they have lost all faith in their mail being delivered and some have even paid for their mail to be distributed themselves.

One Bloxham Vale resident who wished to remain nameless said: “I moved in on July 4 and from the until July 30, I had only received one letter.

“On Saturday July 30, I visited the Banbury sorting office to ask if there was any post at the sorting office, I was handed 19 letters and one parcel and told to complain to customer services.

“I was also told to tell my neighbours that there was mail for them waiting to be collected. I asked why the mail had not been delivered and was told they cannot cope with all the new builds.”

Another resident Katie Craythorne said that she has not been receiving mail daily and now prefers to receive important mail online. She added: “It started to get worse after Christmas, they haven’t got an excuse for not knowing where it is, as mail has been delivered here in the past.

“We order packages from Amazon regularly and have no issue at all so it’s just a Royal Mail problem.

“I’m expecting something from Royal Mail and if they don’t send it, as now expected, I will have to go down to the depot myself and collect it.

“I, fortunately, receive hospital appointments by text or email but not everybody is online or wants to do things digitally and they can miss important things.”

We contacted the Royal Mail for a response but we have yet to hear back from them.
