The first episode of the Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes podcast dropped on Tuesday. It is currently number two on Spotify’s charts in Britain and across the pond.
Meghan has been pipped to number one by The Joe Rogan Experience in the US and The Diary Of A CEO With Steven Bartlett in the UK.
In her long-awaited podcast, the former Suits star explores the stereotypes faced by women.
Her close friend and tennis star Serena Williams was a guest on the first episode.
During the episode, Meghan and Serena discuss the double standards women face when they are labelled “ambitious”.
The Duchess says: “I don’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ambitious until I started dating my now husband.”
Meanwhile, Serena reveals Prince Harry helped her with her decision to retire from tennis.
Meghan, who quit royal duties with Harry in 2020 for a new life in California, says: “I think, you know, I think both of us, or the three of us, really know that sometimes the right decision isn’t the easiest decision.
“It takes a lot of courage, I think, too, to stop something in many ways than to keep going sometimes.”
Elsewhere, Meghan opens up on being “so tired” during pregnancy.
Serena says: “You were under a lot of stress”, and the Duchess replies: “Yeah it’s true.”
The Duchess also told of how a fire broke out in her young son Archie’s room during her and Harry’s South Africa tour in 2019.
Archie’s then nanny had taken him downstairs with her as she went to get a snack just as the heater in the nursery caught fire.
Meghan said she found out after giving a speech to kick off the royal tour, before having to go out on another engagement.
She says: “We came back. And, of course, as a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God, what?’
“Everyone’s in tears, everyone’s shaken. And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement. I said, ‘This doesn’t make any sense’.”
The Duke of Sussex also makes an appearance in the episode, with Meghan saying: “You wanna come say hi? Look who just popped in.”
Meghan and Serena greet Harry with “Hello” in British accents, with Harry telling the tennis legend: “I like what you’ve done with your hair. That’s a great vibe.”
Serena replies: “Thank you. Good to see you too as always, I miss you guys.”
The Duke responds “Well come and see us”, with Meghan saying they will make a plan.
As Harry leaves, Meghan says: “Thanks my love.”
The Sussexes signed their deal with Spotify after quitting as working royals in March 2020 and moving to California.
