Meghan Markle joins Prince Harry at One Young World Summit for keynote speech

Meghan Markle will give the keynote speech today at the One Young World Summit as she joins Prince Harry on a UK trip.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will appear at the event in Manchester on Monday as it gathers young leaders from more than 190 countries.

This will be the couple’s first public appearance in the UK since returning for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

The trip comes just days after a revealing and wide-ranging interview with The Cut magazine in which the Duchess of Sussex remarked that t takes “a lot of effort” to forgive and hinted that she can “say anything”.

Meghan Markle to make keynote speech days after revealing interview

Before stepping down as senior members of the Royal family, the former Suits actress noted that Harry and herself were “upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy just by existing”.

The couple is reported to have arrived in the UK on Saturday but a spokesperson for the pair has declined to confirm their arrival.

On Monday, the couple will attend the One Young World summit where they will meet a group of summit delegates.

The Duchess, who is a counsellor for the organisation, will also give the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

The trip falls in the same week that a new Prime Minister is confirmed and is asked to form a government by the Queen.

The formal occasion will take place in Her Majesty’s private summer home, Balmoral, in the Scottish Highlands.

This is the first time a Prime Minister appointment has been held here during her reign, prompting concern over the monarch’s health.

The 96-year-old, who has been facing ongoing mobility issues, traditionally holds audiences with outgoing and incoming leaders at Buckingham Palace.

It is not known whether Harry and Meghan will visit the Queen in Balmoral during their trip.

Following the UK trip, the couple will head to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year To Go event which is taking place on Tuesday.

They are expected to return to the UK for the WellChild Awards in London where Harry will deliver a speech on Thursday.
