It is a historic event – and surely an emotional one for many – so Monday has been declared a bank holiday. Many shops, supermarkets and restaurants will close for the occasion.

Here is the full list of places that will be closed on Monday, September 19 across the UK.

Royal Mail services are being suspended on the day of The Queen’s funeral.

At least 114 of more than 11,500 Post Office branches will be closed on Monday, and it’s likely that the some 2,500 found in shops such as Tesco and WHSmith will also be closed.

However, as many Post Office branches are individually owned, it’s up to each branch to decide if it wants to open.

Amazon will keep going, however it’s been reported that it will pause deliveries during The Queen’s funeral.

Tourist attractions

You will find a number of tourist attractions unavailable on Monday.

This includes National Trust properties and anywhere run by English Heritage.

Centre Parcs said it would ask its guests to leave for the day, however has since backtracked somewhat on the decision.

In London, we know the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and the V&A will be closed, along with the Tate and National Gallery. The National Gallery of Scotland will shut, too.

If you are planning to visit any attraction on Monday, September 19 – best to give them a ring to check opening hours.

Food banks

Some food banks will also be shut on Monday, it’s worth noting.

As these are often independently-run and volunteer-led, it may depend on the situation in your local area, though charity The Trussell Trust did confirm that it had told its partners it was up them.

Chief executive Emma Revie said: ‘Food banks in our network run sessions on different days and at different times.

‘Food banks are best placed to make the right decision for their communities and will ensure everyone who needs support can access it as they do with every bank holiday.

‘As each food bank is an independent charity, we’d encourage people who need support to contact their local food bank to check their opening hours.’

If in need of a food bank’s services, contact them directly to find out when they will be open.
