Indigo Eats bosses plead for public’s help after break-in

THIEVES ransacked a popular Largs cafe after smashing their way in and stealing cash.

Indigo Eats posted a message online to say staff were devastated following the break-in, which happened around 3.30am on Monday morning.

Café owners Jim and Margaret Stewart, who opened the Gallowgate Street eatery in May last year, have appealed to locals who may have seen or heard something to come forward with information.

A spokesperson said: “We are devastated.

“During the cost of living crisis, it’s already difficult for small, family-run businesses like ours to survive.

“The place was trashed and obviously there was a theft. We do have some CCTV images and the police are working to identify the culprits.

“We would ask that anyone that has any information at all to pass it on to help catch those responsible.”

Police say inquiries are currently ongoing into the break-in.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 8:40am on Monday September 26, police received a report of a break-in at a shop in Gallowgate Street, Largs.

“The break-in is believed to have occurred sometime between 6pm on Sunday the next morning.

“At this time we know that a sum of cash was stolen and further inquiries are ongoing.”
