Bruton Post Office to reopen at new high-street location

An “important” Somerset post office will reopen at a new high-street location this November, after a four-month hiatus.

Bruton Post Office will welcome back customers on Wednesday, November 23, from its new home in the Premier convenience store at 23 High Street. The branch will open at 1pm that day and from 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday thereafter.

The post office at 14 Patwell Street closed in July after the postmaster resigned and Bruton has been without its services since then. Now, the branch will be restored and open for business 54 hours a week.

Antoinette Chitty, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring a Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The branch’s opening hours will make it convenient for customers to visit.”

In a press release, the Post Office said it was keen to restore the Bruton branch as soon as possible and had therefore gone ahead with its plans to reopen in the Premier convenience store. However, you can still give feedback on the move.

The consultation will close on Friday, November 4 and customers can share their views online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 420549. Submissions can also be made via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone at 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
