Lorry and car in crash on A63 as motorists warned of delays

A lorry and a car were involved in an accident on the A63 this morning (Wednesday).

Motorists were warned of delays after the collision near the Melton turn-off. Congestion stretched back into Hull, with delays of around 25 minutes.

The accident happened on the westbound carriageway close at the South Lawn Way turn-off. Motorists heading out of the city were affected, with congestion stretching back to Boothferry Road.

One motorist who passed the crash said they saw a lorry, van and a car stationary in the left-hand lane and debris on the road. Cars were queueing to pass the accident.

One lane was closed. Traffic service Inrix said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to accident, a lorry and a car involved on A63 Westbound at South Lawn Way (Melton Turn Off). Congestion to Boothferry Road (Humber Bridge turn off). Travel time is around 25 minutes.”

Traffic was extremely slow moving between Boothferry Road and Melton. At this point, it is not clear how the accident happened or whether anyone has been hurt.

The road was reopened shortly after 8.30am and traffic began to ease.
