As per The Daily Mail, the undated note went up for auction in December 2016. At that time it was reportedly expected to fetch 1,400 pounds. At the time, Robert Livingston, executive VP at Boston-based RR Auction, called it “a seldom-encountered piece of correspondence from within the royal family, enhanced by its fitting Christmas time association”.
One of the Twitter users wrote, “How lovely. A message from a devoted grandmother to a grandson.” Meanwhile, another user tweeted, “This should be returned to Prince William, it belongs to him. A personal memory for him.”

Notably, The longest serving British monarch died on September 9 this year. She was 96 years old. The Queen was extremely fond of her grandchildren. Prince William shared a sweet relationship with the late royal.
When the queen died, Prince William wrote, “She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.”
