Royal Mail says sorry as landmark postbox to be removed

A postbox which has served a community for decades is to be removed. Royal Mail has already sealed up the postbox outside the Premier store, on Tunstall Road, in Knypersley, for a number of weeks.

That move left residents baffled and comes just a couple of years after the community lost its public phone box. Now Royal Mail has revealed that the postbox is to be removed completely.

The shop was once home to Knypersley Post Office before the branch was closed down as part of national cutbacks.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “As our vehicle is no longer able to park at this site, we have had no choice but to close the postbox, which will be removed soon. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
