Royal Mail strikes leaves blind Cotswold Listener customers without Christmas news

A charity that sends out weekly talking newspapers and magazines to blind people in Gloucestershire has put out an urgent notice due to the Royal Mail strikes.

‘The Cotswold Listener’, who service Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the North Cotswolds, have said that due to the postal strike, there have been severe delays in the memory sticks sent out and returned in pouches by free post un the Royal Mail’s concession ‘Articles for the Blind’ label, not getting to and back from the charity’s listeners.

The charity has therefore reported that they have made the difficult decision to finish their weekly recordings a week earlier than planned before Christmas in the hope that they will start receiving the backlog of post. As they only have sufficient pouches and memory sticks for their next issue, they plan to produce a bumper recording of the News, Magazine, TNF Soundings and MagXtra.

This will result in a three hour plus recording, packed with interesting articles and Christmas readings. Listeners will be able to hear all their favourite readers and presenters.

Listeners who have the necessary passwords can also access recent recordings via The Cotswold Listener’s website here.
