‘Do not travel’ warning issued as rail strikes affect first week of 2023

Rail operator Northern has issued a new ‘do not travel’ warning to commuters looking to travel during the first week of the new year.

In the past few months alone, the UK has been affected by strikes from nurses, paramedics, Royal Mail, and bus services.

Northern is one of three services to operate from Hull Paragon Station. It is also the second largest UK train operator, connecting to more than 500 stations across the North with more than 2,500 services daily. Northern has also stated that there will be no services in the North East on January 1.

“For many, Monday 9 January will be their first experience of our new timetable – which went live in December and includes an additional 3,000 services a week across our network.

“As such, we’re encouraging everyone to use the new ‘Check My Timetable’ feature on our website to see the changes specific to their local station.”
