Husband and wife team Martin and Claire Murray are a creative duo who have a passion for the environment.

As owners of Dunnet Bay Distillers, they ensure that their customers can join them on their earth-loving journey by making recycling as easy as possible.

That is why they have been named our Green Hero, at the 2023 Highland Heroes awards.

One of the reasons they have been chosen is their forward-thinking recycling awards programme which their customers can easily join via the Dunnet Bay Distillery website. Customers are able to purchase pouches to refill their famously known Rock Rose gin bottles! The pouches can then be returned for free via the Royal Mail.

Not only do they provide this service, but they also have an up-cycle programme in collaboration with Highland Soap Co. in order to turn their gin bottles into soap dispensers!

Speaking about their win, Martin said: “We are thrilled to win the award! We are absolutely chuffed and surprised to win this given the strength in the Highlands in this area.

“We couldn’t attend the event the awards due to travelling commitments, so we were gutted not to be there on the night as it seemed like such a great event.

“We are fortunate to have a great team in Dunnet and Sarah Lyons, our environmental manager, has been instrumental identifying improvements that our business can make in the environmental performance.”
