Royal Mail shares service update for the Easter Weekend

Royal Mail has made a statement regarding postal deliveries for the Easter weekend. Here is how the UK’s postal service will be affected by the Bank Holidays.

Many people across the UK will have sent out Easter cards to their loved ones in the last few days. However, Royal Mail announced that there will be no deliveries or collections of mail today (Good Friday).

This is the case for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, however services are operating as normal in Scotland today.

Tomorrow, Saturday April 11, Royal Mail will be operating its service as normal.

The postal service informed customers on its website: “Our usual weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place on Saturday April 8.”

Customer Delivery points will be open for customers to collect urgent items for which Royal Mail has left a ‘Something for you’ card.

Royal Mail urged customers to visit its Service Near You page for the opening times of the collection points.

On Sunday April 9 (Easter Sunday) Sunday parcels are to be delivered as normal.

It states: “We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays.

“However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on public or local holidays. (Please note: Local holidays are subject to change).”

The next holiday where there will be no collections or deliveries is Monday May 1, across the whole of the UK.

Royal Mail has been experiencing some delays over the recent days and weeks.

Delays can be caused by several factors including high levels of sick absence, resourcing issues and other local factors. Poor weather conditions can also cause disruption to postal deliveries.
