Royal Mail announces latest postal delays including postcodes ‘most impacted’ this weekend

This morning Royal Mail released a statement regarding ongoing postal delays across the country. There are 21 UK postcodes that will be most affected.

This morning, the official Royal Mail website read: “Weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place on Saturday, April 15. Sunday parcel deliveries are expected on Sunday, April 16.”

The postal service added that most Customer Service Points will be open both Saturday and Sunday for customers to collect urgent items.

For these, Royal Mail will leave a “something for you” card. Customers are asked to visit https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-youOpens in a new window for their opening times.

Royal Mail explained that while it aims to deliver to all addresses it has mail for, six days a week, this is “temporarily” not possible in all offices.

“Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”

Royal Mail added: “If you need to collect an item for which we’ve left a ‘something for you’ card.”

Customers should check https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-youOpens in a new window for details of our Customer Service Point locations and opening hours.

Regarding deliveries of international items, Royal Mail explained why these may be taking “longer than usual”.

“Following the restoration of Royal Mail International export services, delivery of international items may take slightly longer than usual. Customers using International Tracked services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK.

“We are seeing delays to some tracking events in a small number of destinations.”

Customers who cannot see the tracking information for their items should check the overseas posts tracking at
