Royal Mail warns Britons of new delivery delays this week

Royal Mail announced new delivery delays and issued a warning on Thursday, May 11, regarding its UK deliveries as well as its international service which could affect customers in a number of areas across the country. Although most delivery and collection services are taking place as normal this week, a number of local offices could be affected by severe delays.

Royal Mail explained that they aim to deliver to all addresses six days a week but “this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors” in certain areas.

Royal Mail aims to minimise the delay this week by providing support to those offices but a total of 14 UK postcodes will experience delays and service disruption.

Customers in the affected areas will be regularly updated and Royal Mail will try to restore the service as soon as possible.

For updates and further information, customers can visit royalmail.com. If they need to collect an item after receiving a “Something for You” card, Britons can check the details and opening hours at royalmail.com/services-near-you.

If customers can’t see tracking information for their items, “it is likely to be available on the overseas’ posts tracking websites”.

Royal Mail advised people to visit royalmail.com/sending/international/overseas-postal-tracking to track their international shipping for more information.

Its website also reminded customers that they now require a customs declaration when sending items internationally.

This can be purchased online through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches.
