Royal Mail delivery delays as two Essex towns may not receive post again due to ‘local issues’

Two Essex towns will not receive post from Royal Mail due to ‘local issues’. Royal Mail say they hope to deliver to all addresses they have mail for 6 days a week – Monday to Saturday.

However, in some local offices, deliveries can be delayed with some towns without post due to local office issues. This may be due to high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

12 towns will be without post today (May 17), including two towns in Essex who will be without post again, as Royal Mail were unable to deliver parcels and letters yesterday. Residents in South Ockendon and Stanford-le-Hope are those affected.

Royal Mail says they apologise for the inconvenience and will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted. They added they will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers and provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore service.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail said: “Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted.”
