Morland’s brewery in Abingdon had launched a special limited edition to mark what promised to be the wedding of the year – the marriage of the then Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer.

It was one of two special brews in Oxfordshire to toast the royal couple – Morrells brewery in Oxford had introduced its own.
Morland’s special brew, a quality pale ale called simply Royal Wedding, came in small bottles bearing a royal purple label with silver lettering and scroll.
It went on sale at Morland pubs at about 45p.
