Camilla shares what she loves most about being a grandmother

To the people of the United Kingdom Camilla is Queen, but to a very select few she is simply “granny”.

Camilla is grandmother to Lola Parker Bowles, Freddy Parker Bowles, Eliza Lopes, Louis Lopes and Gus Lopes.

She is also a step-granny to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Despite having a vastly different life compared to most of the population, Queen Camilla is rather relatable when it comes to how to be a grandparent.

The royal sat down with Vogue in celebration of her 75th birthday, and in the interview spoke about her close relationship with her grandkids – and how she likes to spoil them.

Grandparents everywhere are known for giving their grandkids treats they would never get from their parents, and Camilla is no exception.

She told the publication: “You know the nice thing about being a grandmother is that you can spoil them occasionally, give them more of the things that their parents forbid them to have.”

“One’s at a school very near my house, so when I am in Wiltshire and her parents are away, I can nip over and pick her up and take her home.”

In spite of her hectic schedule, the Queen revealed that she carves out time every day for a special activity with one granddaughter.

The activity is not only super fun and great for brain training, but it also brings out Camilla’s competitive streak.

She said: “I do Wordle every day with my granddaughter. She’ll text me to say, ‘I’ve done it in three’, and I say, ‘Sorry, I’ve done it in two today’.

“It’s very satisfactory when it tells you how brilliant you are.”

Camilla shared another insight into her life as a grandmother – and it’s very typical.

She told Vogue that her teen granddaughters are at the age where they are experimenting with makeup, piercings and hair colours which she said is “rather frightening”.
