Royal Mail makes postal service announcement – UK postcodes affected

Royal Mail aims to deliver to all addresses it has mail for, six days per week.

However, this is not always the case due to factors such as high levels of sickness absences, resourcing issues, local factors or poor weather conditions.

When this happens, Royal Mail rotates deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers, and provides targeted support to those offices to restore services to a high standard.

Royal Mail provides a daily update regarding which offices are most impacted by delays, but the postal service reassured customers that operations will run smoothly this weekend across the UK. However, due to a local holiday some Scotland postcodes will be affected.

Weekend delivery and collection services across the UK are expected to take place on Saturday, June 24, Royal Mail shared. Sunday parcel deliveries are expected on Sunday, June 25.

Most of Royal Mail’s Customer Service Points are open both Saturday and Sunday for customers to collect urgent items for which a “Something for you” card has been left.

The postal service advised: “Please visit royalmail.com/services-near-you for their opening times.

However, two postcodes will be adversely affected today, Saturday, June 24, due to a local holiday.

Royal Mail explained that it delivers and collects mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays.

However, it does not usually deliver or collect on public or local holidays, noting that local holidays are subject to change.

There will be no delays in England, Wales or Northern Ireland this weekend, but a local holiday in Scotland today means no collections or deliveries in the EH43 to EH46 postcode areas.

As for international deliveries, Royal Mail explained that “following the restoration of Royal Mail International export services, delivery of international items may take slightly longer than usual”.

Customers using International Tracked services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK, and may face some delays in a small number of destinations.

Customers sending items requiring a customs declaration (such as goods or gifts) internationally should purchase postage online rather than using stamps or metres. This can be done through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches.
