Make mature skin ‘look amazing’ with universally flattering beauty tip

Makeup can be used to both conceal and enhance natural features on the skin, but the latter is often avoided by those with mature complexions.

This is especially true when it comes to common problem areas such as the eyes, forehead and lips. And when it comes to eyeshadow, many avoid wearing colourful shades for fear of highlighting texture and wrinkles.

However, beauty, menopause and lifestyle TikTok user Cait Kiernan (@Caitkiernan) claimed that certain products can have the opposite effect.

In a recent video posted on her profile, the beauty expert revealed that harnessing the powder of neutral eyeshadow shades and a pop of blusher can actually work wonders on mature skin types.

She said: “If you are over 40, especially if you’re over 50, this is a tip that’s going to make you look amazing… trust me.”

Cait explained that she has used the technique “every single day” after learning it from a professional makeup artist many years ago.

The TikTok star continued: “He told me that he generally works in neutral tones, beiges, browns, taupes, things like that because they tend to be more flattering as the skin gets crepey around the eyes.

“But he does one thing to add a little bit of colour that instantly brightens the eyes and makes the entire makeup look cohesive.”

The “tip” involves taking the same blusher product applied to the cheeks and using it on the eyelids.

The makeup artist recommended taking a small dab of the product on a “little tiny brush” to add a “pop of colour” to the centre of the eyelids.

Cait claimed that the beauty expert exclusively used “warm, rose tones” for this trick rather than peachy blusher products.

She explained: “The reason for that is because they’re flattering on every skin tone and they add just a subtle softness of colour that instantly makes the eye pop.”

While the results speak for themselves, the beauty blogger noted that the rosy product “does a few things”, including making the eyes “look more awake”.

Cait added: “It also plays up the colour of the eyes. Makes the whites look brighter because blue is the base of the pink and just gives you a more youthful appearance.”

Another benefit of the blusher is that it keeps the entire makeup look monochromatic rather than contrasting a “warm cheek and a cool eye”.

As a personal lover of the beauty tip, Cait claimed that it will have people with mature complexions looking “gorgeous and fresh in no time”.
