Tragedy as driver killed in crash on busy Chester road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist died in a fatal smash on a busy Chester road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A483 between Belgrave and Rossett at around 9.25am this morning.

Cheshire Police say officers found a blue BMW 3 Series had collided with a stationary truck parked in a layby on the stretch. Now the force has confirmed that the BMW driver, believed to be a 27-year-old man from Chester, sadly died at the scene.

The southbound stretch remains shut between Belgrave traffic lights and Junction 7 in Rossett while collision investigation work continues. Meanwhile part of the northbound stretch was also shut between Junction 7 and Post House roundabout.

“The collision involved a blue BMW 3 series and a stationary HGV parked in a layby on the A483.

“Sadly, the driver of the BMW, believed to be a 27-year-old man from Chester, died at the scene. Next of kin have been informed. The A483 is closed from Belgrave traffic lights/Junction to J7 A483 Rossett, south bound, while emergency services work at the scene.
