The Royal Family ‘loves playing Scrabble’ says Sarah Ferguson, who also reveals granddaughter Sienna is currently staying with her- and calls her Gee-Gee

The Royal Family are ‘very united’ according to Sarah Ferguson, who revealed they enjoy bonding over a game of Scrabble.

The Duchess of York made the comments during the latest episode of her podcast Tea Talks, which she hosts with her close friend Sarah Thomson. The topic of this week’s instalment was ‘play, trains and board games at the palace’.

A listener asked about whether the royals enjoy playing board games at Christmas, and if it was true that the late Queen Elizabeth has disliked Monopoly because of its tendency to cause arguments between players.

The 63-year-old duchess shared details about The Firm that made them sound surprisingly normal, saying they ‘do love games, board games, card games, Scrabble, jigsaws’, and that they are ‘a very unified family’.

She added that they ‘love to do what other families do and that’s lovely’.

However, she did not comment on Monopoly or the late monarch’s feelings about the game.

Neither did she confirm or deny that The Firm plays the game ‘Ibble Dibble’, which is seen being played by members of the family in the Netflix royal drama The Crown.

Sarah, who lives at Royal Lodge in Windsor with her divorced husband Prince Andrew, also opened up about her granddaughter Sienna, who is currently staying with the Yorks while her mother Princess Beatrice is on holiday.

She said of the almost two-year-old: ‘Beatrice and Edo are away so Gee-Gee is in charge, it’s really quite amusing.

‘I wished for the time that Sienna would come in and say Gee-Gee let’s come and play and now every minute of the day she wants to come and play.’

Revealing similarities between her granddaughter and her daughter, Sarah described the tot as a ‘mini me’.

She said: ‘It’s taken me right the way back to following Beatrice around – it’s literally a Mini-Me.

‘We’ve had an extraordinary time and I’m very glad that Beatrice and Edo got some time alone too.’

Earlier this week, Sarah wished Beatrice a happy birthday as her daughter turned 35.

She took to her Instagram account to post two throwback images with the royal.

‘Happy birthday Beatrice. You’ll always be my girl,’ wrote the mother-of-two alongside a love heart emoji.

One of the images posted by the Duchess showed the daughter and mother duo travelling in the Duke of York’s Aston Martin car in 1996.

A young Beatrice shows off her vibrant style in pink sunglasses, while her mother looks stylish in a white T-shirt and dainty earrings while sitting in the passenger seat.

A second photo shared by Sarah today captures the pair chatting to one another while at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Gold Cup Final in 2004 in West Sussex.

Speaking in a recent podcast, Sarah said that she is proud of ‘hard working’ Beatrice, who currently works as a consultant for a software company called Affiniti.

But now a key focus in her life is to ‘literally focus on joy’, and she is additionally thrilled that Beatrice has been able to find the joy in her own family unit.

She said: ‘I’m delighted that my children, who work so hard, are able to have their pods of family, and now they are living the dream.’

‘I believe that my children have got beautiful, lovely happiness in them and I love that.’
