High Wycombe mum to run 10km in Windsor to help ill husband

Amanda Dobin will run 10km with a double buggy consisting of her two children in aid of her partner, Sam, who is battling pancreatic cancer.

The couple were told of the news in April 2022 on their son’s second birthday whilst their daughter was only six weeks old.

Fast forward 16 months and Sam is still around, and Amanda hopes the run by Dorney Lake in Windsor will spread awareness for the charity, Pancreatic Cancer Action.

A snippet from their Go Fund Me Page reads: “Running and athletics have always been a big part of our lives but Sam hasn’t been able to run for several months now due to neuropathy, a side effect of his treatment.

“He particularly loves buggy running with our children but I’ve taken that over in recent months when I can.

“The children aren’t getting any smaller so I figured if I’m ever going to do it, now is the time to attempt a 10km with the double buggy.

“This will be the furthest I’ve run since before I first became pregnant in 2019, with or without the buggy.

“So target km paces are out the window I will just be pleased to complete the race in one piece without any toddler meltdowns.”

As it stands, over £3,000 has been raised for the charity with the run taking place on August 27 at Dorney Lake in Windsor.
