According to reports, the 20p coin has fetched more than 1,000 times its face value after a week of bidding on eBay. The coin is a special one because it was minted back in 1983 onto a copper-coloured blank by mistake, which resulted in a very rare bronze 20p coin. Reportedly, a person had it in 2016, and he was so intrigued by it that he sent it off to the Royal Mail back in 2016. Later, the Royal Mail was able to make a huge profit out of it which involved five buyers with a total of 28 bids on eBay.

After the long bidding war, the same coin managed to get EUR 232 (Rs 20,671), which is 1,000 times more than its face value. People who own such rare coins are getting quite popular on the internet. There are many numismatists who are ready to bid and even pay a very high price for these rare and unique coins. The price of these coins depends on their demand at that time and how common they are among collectors.

Recently, another coin that was in the news was the Kew Gardens 50p coin in the UK, with over 32 binds. Reportedly, the very rare coin was sold for EUR 165. It was one of the most popular coins among the collectors and notably, only 2,10,000 50p coins were made in total.
