Samsung TV users can now get 8 free extra channels – here’s how to activate them

Samsung TV users are about to get their hands on a number of new free channels covering sport, comedy, and drama – and won’t have to pay a penny to watch them

Samsung TV Plus has just launched 8 new channels

A new range of free channels is coming to Samsung TV at no extra cost to users.

Today the Korean tech giant announced that nine new channels will be made available on the Samsung TV Plus app, a free-to-view platform that lets you enjoy live content with ads.

This includes two sports channels, DAZN Women’s Football and DAZN Ringside, which will let you watch MMA and boxing as well as women’s football matches. This includes a range of live games as well as documentaries and archive matches.

On top of that, there’s also the PGA TOUR channel which will broadcast a range of golf recaps and tournaments. It’s a nice range of sports content that will sit alongside the Tennis Channel and FIFA+, for those who can’t quite stretch to a Sky Sports subscription.

If sport isn’t your bag, the UKTV range of channels is also coming to Samsung TV Plus, including UKTV Play Laughs, Play Uncovered, Play Full Throttle and Play Heroes. This spans a range of comedy, thrillers, dramas, motoring, and detective content.

Finally, NBC News is also joining the roster, giving you 24/7 content and news from the US.

To get Samsung TV Plus, all you need is a Samsung Smart TV or Galaxy smartphone. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll be able to tune into these channels without needing a login, subscription, or payment card. If the app is already installed on your TV, you simply have to navigate to it using your remote.

It therefore works a little bit like Freevee on Amazon Prime Video, which lets you watch live streamed channels in exchange for sitting through some ad breaks.

Jennifer Batty, head of Content Acquisition for Samsung TV Plus Europe, said: “As summer draws to a close, Samsung is delighted to be adding DAZN, PGA TOUR, NBC News Now and UKTV Play channels to our ever-expanding roster of sports and entertainment content on Samsung TV Plus. If young fans were glued to the edge of their seats for the World Cup Final, the new DAZN Women’s Football channel will continue to inspire the next generation of female players.”
