Prince William turns to ‘unlikely’ ally after ‘concerning’ few weeks for Royal Family

Prince William has found an unexpected friend in the Royal Family during a tough few weeks, says a Royal expert. The Duke of Cambridge and Queen Camilla are now “closer than ever”, looking after the Crown following recent health scares within the family.

On Monday, Prince Charles and the Queen showed unity as they led the Royal Family at the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. This was without King Charles and Princess Kate.

Over the years, the relationship between these two royals has seen ups and downs. This followed the end of Charles’s marriage to William’s mum, Princess Diana, in 1992 and his later relationship with Camilla.

But now, with King Charles having cancer treatment and the Princess of Wales recovering from tummy surgery, it’s likely that William and Camilla are talking more, says a Royal expert.

Jennie Bond, who used to report on the royals for the BBC, told OK!

: “Recent events have obviously brought William and Camilla much closer. They have been left, almost literally, nursing the Crown while the King and the Princess recover.”

“Their teams will be working more closely to coordinate diaries and cover the engagements that have been planned, and Camilla and William are bound to have been in much closer regular contact.”

The expert also suggested the two royals may have been able to offer emotional help to one another following their spouses’ health issues.

She said: “Apart from the business side of things, I’m sure they will have been an emotional help to one another as well.”

“Both will have been so worried about these unexpected health issues and I imagine they will have shared their concerns.”

She added that while William growing up would have needed time to accept his mother-in-law, “maturity brought with it the realisation that Camilla makes his father extremely happy”.

Ms Bond said: “And the Prince knows now that she is the love of his [King Charles’s] life.”

“As the picture shows, I think there is now a real warmth and affection between Camilla and William – both putting on a brave face to the world and getting on with their jobs when I am sure they would rather be at home tending to their partners and/or children.”
