China ‘flooding market with fake Royal Mail stamps’

China has been accused of waging “economic warfare” by flooding Britain with fake stamps.

An investigation uncovered four Chinese suppliers offering to print up to a million counterfeit Royal Mail stamps a week. These are being sold to unsuspecting retailers for as little as 4p each, and can be delivered to Britain within days, The Daily Telegraph found.

The fakes can also be bought via Amazon and eBay and on websites that copy the official Royal Mail store.

Sources close to Royal Mail said that fraudulent stamps from China had resulted in a surge of complaints from customers, who can be charged a £5 penalty if the post they receive has a counterfeit stamp. Small retailers have apparently been unwittingly buying forgeries in bulk from
