For anyone who is wanting to clear out their wardrobe, you might want to start following mum-of-two Lyndsay.
Better known as @lyndsay.and.the.girls on TikTok, this super savvy mum has made over £200 in her first few months of selling clothes and regularly shares advice online.
While she loves using Vinted as her side hustle, the content creator does admit that she made a big mistake during her first sale – resulting in her driving over half an hour from her home.
Even worse, it could have been avoid with just a few simple changes to her settings.
In a now viral video, she explained just how easily she could have avoided this and urged fans to learn from her mistake.
According to the Vinted seller, you need to go into your settings on the app and look at the postage options.
There you’ll find a list of all the couriers and delivery methods who you can use to send your items, including Royal Mail, EVRi and even lockers.
If you spot any you’d prefer not to use, you can simply use the toggle to turn off that courier and it won’t come up as an option for buyers.
Sadly, Lyndsay wasn’t aware of this when she first started selling and ended up going out of her way to get an item delivered.
In the caption on TikTok, she warned her followers: “Don’t make the same mistake I did when I first started selling on Vinted!
“I ended up driving 30 minutes to the lockers which are no where near my house…which was a huge mistake”
Though the Brighton mum was able to sort the parcel but mistakes like these can end up in delayed parcels and unhappy customers – both of which can impact your profile’s rating.
For those that are curious, the super seller also has turned off Royal Mail as her local post office always has long queues.
She has also gotten the parcel size wrong, meaning she’d had to spend more on postage than she’d originally hoped.
Now, she uses other couriers and explained: “My usual provider is Evri, with the occasional Yodel thrown in for good measure! Both are really quick and easy and have been no problem – so far!”
Unsurprisingly, her video has gone viral with over 17,000 people seeing it on TikTok, as more and more of us use apps to sell our second hand clothes.

If you are tempted to start selling on Vinted, it’s a good idea to check how much an item will cost to post before listing your item.
Most couriers, including Royal Mail, will have a price list based on the size and weight of every delivery, which you can to get the lowest postage.
With these tips and tricks, you’ll be boosting your bank balance in no time.

New Vinted rules to be aware of
IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.
If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.
However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.
You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.
A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit – the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.
However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.
It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.
While your data won’t be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you’ll still need to pay tax as normal.
