Wannabe Banksy avoids jail after spray-painting 38 post boxes different colours

A WANNABE Banksy who spray-painted 38 post boxes different colours has  avoided jail.

Danny Whiskin, 33, admitted  vandalising  them — painting many  gold and others with Cadbury’s Creme Egg and Mr Blobby themes.

He even continued  to spray the red mail drop-offs even after he was caught and bailed.

A court heard it had cost Royal Mail nearly £6,000 to repaint the boxes in Dartford, Kent.

But JPs ordered father-of-five Whiskin to pay back just £2,600.

In footage played at Medway magistrates’ court, he is seen painting one while anxiously looking around. It was filmed by an outraged passer-by, who handed the video to police.

Whiskin, who admitted criminal damage and breaching bail,  was given an 18-month community order and must attend mental health sessions.

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, attend rehab and a thinking skills scheme, and pay a £114 victim surcharge.
