Paddy McGuinnes to address ‘shock’ split with ex-wife Christine McGuinness in new stand-up

Paddy McGuinness has said he will address the ‘shock’ split from ex-wife Christine in a new stand-up show.

The celebrity couple split up in 2022 after 11 years of marriage which came as a shock for most fans of the pair. Now, the former Top Gear host will use the break-up as new material for his stand-up show when he starts touring the country this year.

Paddy will begin the show this September at BBC Radio 2 In The Park and will take it into 2025. Getting fans excited, the stand-up comedian has hinted at what to expect in the show titled Paddy McGuinness: Work In Progress Warm Up Shows.

Two years after their split, Christine still lives with Paddy, saying it’s for the sake of their three children Leo and Penelope, 10 and Felicity, 7. The Mirror reports Paddy spoke about the upcoming tour on Tony Bellew’s podcast, Club Bellew.

The 50-year-old said: “This tour will be slightly different from past tours. I’m planning to talk about things I have never talked about on tour, for instance having children with autism.

“I’m divorced now, so that will come into it. He added: “It’s been eight years since my last tour and there’s lots of things to laugh about. I’m looking forward to getting back in front of a live audience, along with running the gauntlet of cancel culture, click bait and fake news.”

Paddy will perform 40 dates across this year and next, including at London’s Palladium. Recently, he spoke candidly about their current relationship following the marital split, saying: “We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together. If Christine met someone else, I’d be supportive.”

Paddy recently told the Mirror: “If someone didn’t know our situation and came to our house and they spent the day with us, they would not have a clue (we were not together). We get on well, we live together and co-parent. We get the lawyers back and forth but that’s separate – that’s a different thing.”

Adjusting to living alone, Paddy shared experiences of dating. He said: “I tried a couple of dates last year After twelve months of adjusting to life on my own I felt I should give it a try rather than really wanting to. For now, I’m happy being single.” He also added: “For now, we’re happy with how things are, living together and helping each other balance work and kids.”

Christine also addressed the split on Loose Women and gave her blessing for her ex-husband. The Real Housewives of Cheshire star explained: “We’re both single, and he’s entitled to go and date if he wants to, that’s completely his business. And it’s not my business at all, you know, and the same for me.”

She also addressed her readiness to date again, saying, “It’s just I feel it’s not the right time. But I’m not totally against it. And if he wants to date, he’s completely single and he can, I don’t feel anything towards it. You know, it’s his life, it’s his private life, and he can do what he wants. I can’t complain about it. No, absolutely not.”
