Spar and Post Office ram raiders escape with cash and vapes

A Devon Spar and Post Office has been targeted in a late-night ram raid. A quantity of money and vapes were taken during the break in.

Police were called around 3.45am to the Spar and Post Office in Bampton. A door had been forced open and an amount of money and vapes were taken from the premises, in Castle Street.

In a post to social media, one person reported the store was closed following a break in. They said: “The Spar on Newton Square is closed this morning as it was broken into last night.”

A police cordon was put in place while officers carried out enquiries. Police are now asking for anyone with information or footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told DevonLive: “Police were notified at around 3.45am on Thursday 15 August following reports of a ram raid break-in at the Post Office in Castle Street, Bampton.

“A door was forced open and cash and vapes stolen. Officers attended, and a scene guard was put in place while enquiries were carried out. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information or who has doorbell footage that may help investigating officers is asked to contact police by calling 101 or by reporting online quoting 50240205734.”
