Royal Mail updates Union Flag stamp with silhouette of King Charles III

By David Hartwig

An Aug. 13 issue by Great Britain’s Royal Mail features an updated Union Flag stamp with the silhouette of King Charles III.

The first-class (currently £1.35) stamp features a design of the Union Flag which first appeared on a British stamp in 2001 (Scott 1999b) as part of a Flags set.

Since 2001, the Union Flag design has been used on a variety of Royal Mail stamps, including stamps in 2005 (Scott 2317), 2008 (2538) and 2015 (3452).

“The immensely popular Union Flag stamp embodies Royal Mail’s pride and status as a British institution,” Royal Mail said.

The stamps and FDCs can be ordered from Royal Mail’s website. Ordering information also is available from Royal Mail, Tallents House, 21 S. Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh, EH12 9PB, Scotland.
