Creep postman caught on camera sniffing trainers and attempting to steal doorbell

A creepy postman has been caught on camera allegedly sniffing trainers on a rack outside a customers front door after attempting to steal their video doorbell.

The incident happened at 11.25am on Wednesday (28/08/2024) at an address on Balnagask Circle in the Tory area of South Aberdeen.

Footage of the incident was shared online by mother of two, Jade Mullen on Wednesday evening and has since been viewed more than 575,000 times, shared 1,000 times and received 900 comments.

Jade wrote: “I would just like to let everyone know just to watch out for this postman, he tried to get our ring door bell off our door then turned around to sniff my daughters shoes – what an absolute creep.”

It’s understood the incident has been reported to Police and Royal Mail.

One user commented: “I don’t think he’s sniffing the shoes. I think he’s looking at the size of them.”

Another said: “Wow that’s very weird behaviour.”

A third wrote: “What a creep! This is what our Great Britain has become.”

A fourth added: “Omg!! I hope you’ve reported this that’s terrible of him that’s very very strange behaviour.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are aware of the footage circulating on social media.

“We expect the highest standards from our posties and take any breach of those standards seriously.

“Local management is aware and is actively carrying out further enquiries.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Balnagask Circle area of Aberdeen on Wednesday, 28 August.

“Enquiries were carried out and no criminality was established.

“Suitable advice was given.”
